Galero XIV (Imp)(Dec)

Sire: Lastur
Dam: Judia XIV
Born: 25/01/2001
Colour: Black

Galero XIV was bred by the renowned Spanish stud of Pedro Maza and is the grandson of the legendary Gaucho III. He arrived in Australia in July 2002 as a yearling. Unfortunately, shortly after his arrival, Galero sustained a serious injury in a freak accident, which rendered him unsuitable for competition. To demonstrate his exceptional trainability, he was lightly started under saddle.

Despite his injury, Galero XIV stood out for his striking presence, beautiful conformation, impeccable pedigree, and breathtaking movement—all of which secured his legacy as one of the most influential Spanish stallions to have stood in Australia.

Galero XIV has sired many successful progeny, celebrated for their versatility, kind temperaments, expressive movement, and achievements across a range of open competition disciplines.

Sire: Lastur

Like his son Galero, Lastur was not competed due to injury. He is a distinguished representative of the Bilbaino stallion line, with lineage tracing back to classical PRE icons such as Irlandesa, Gaucho II (his sire), Lebrijano III, Descarado II, and others.

Lastur’s progeny are valued for their correct classical PRE type and quality movement. He is the sire of Sol PM II, owned by Yeguada Paco Marti, and Generoso SH, who is currently campaigned by Tara Kimberley Kröger.

Grandsire: Gaucho III

Bred by Señorio de Bariain, Gaucho III was sired by Panadero VIII and out of Bizarra XIII (by Peruano x Valenciano XIII). In Spain, Gaucho III earned accolades as a top halter horse, including winning “Best Movement” at SICAB in Sevilla. He also gained high scores in the ANCCE "Libro de Méritos" (Book of Merits) for both conformation and movement.

Imported to the USA in 1996 by Danish-born American Janne Rumbough, Gaucho III began competing in 1998. Within two years, he progressed from Small Tour to Grand Prix level. He earned multiple titles, including Region 3 Prix St. Georges Champion and Intermediare I Freestyle Champion. He won his first two Grand Prix outings and placed second in his third.

In 2007, at 17 years of age, Gaucho III was presented at the inaugural PRE Tribunal in the U.S. and was approved as a Qualified Stallion. I

n 2009, he became the first PRE stallion to appear in the USEF Leading Dressage Sires Rankings, where he placed 7th out of 1,079 sires.

Dam: Judia XIV

Judia XIV carries the prized heritage of the classical Yeguada Militar/Carthusian lines, renowned for conformation and quality movement. A true-to-type PRE mare, she was a multi-regional champion in both conformation and movement classes, exemplifying the best traits of her lineage.
