Little Elli proudly represented the PRE at the Dressage of the Stars. Elli finished 16th in the 5yr old Young Horse event and I was so proud of both Elli and Rebecca. Elli does not have the big cadence of the Warmbloods but an absolutely flawless workout and a magnificent picture provided heaps of wonderful feedback and praise from numerous people. For those who receive Centreline the EFA magazine, there is a picture of Elli and Rebecca on page 40. I am really so proud of the girls. Just goes to show you don't have to come first to be a winner!

Elli qualifies for the 2010 5yr old Dressage of the Stars with a score of 6.74. Elli places 6th out of a class of 11. We are so proud of her! This year we are going to enter and if her entry is accepted we will go to Melbourne to compete.

Young Horse Seminar and Judges Workshop with Uwe Spenlen

On 5 December 2009 BHM participated in the Young Horse Seminar and Judges Workshop with Uwe Spenlen held at Callum Park Warmbloods, Wamboin. Uwe is one of the world’s best known and respected Olympic level judge and trainer. He has had a long and distinguished history with horses, training with the great Paul Stecken (along with his very good friend, the late great master Reiner Klimke) and is well regarded as a master of classical and correct training of dressage horses. Uwe is also a well known advocate of the young horse and has delivered seminars and presentations on young horse training around the world.

After the seminar, a workshop was conducted demonstrating training of horses from 4 to 6yr old before a young horse display and stallion parade. BHM was represented by BHM Black Elegancia in the 5yr old class and BHM Godsent in the 2yr old young horse parade. Matt Hanns rode his 4yr old PRE stallion, Mayica Encantado, in the 4yr old class and in the stallion parade.

The day was very well attended and feedback was fantastic. It was a privilege to be asked to participate and a great promotion for the PRE/Spanish horse.

BHM Black Ellegancia riddden by Rebecca's husband Jim Walshe. This is Elli's first outing since her return to work and she looks more relaxed than Jim!! Jim rides Elli when Rebbeca is on call.

The day was successful for both Elli and Jim with them placing second in the Preliminary 1.4 and the Novice 2.2.

Pony Club Murrumbateman

BHM Nikita wins the 6 Bar C Grade Pony Club held at Murrumbateman in June 2009 ridden by Mikaela. BHM Nikita is owned by Samantha Gamble.

NEWS - BHM Nikita ridden by Mikaela has been selected to represent Gearys Gap Pony Club at the NSW State Pony Club Dressage Championships in the 13 under 15 yrs Novice Dressage to be held at the end of August 2009.

Pat Parelli Spectacular SIAC

'Annie' was sold to Fiona Darling from Illabo, NSW and her name is now Taci. Fiona is a Pat Parelli instructor and has recently returned from training with Pat in America. In March this year, Fiona and Taci attended the Parelli Spectacular at SIEC. On the last day, Taci was used in the show and ridden for the very first time by one of the lead Parelli instructors in front of numerous spectators. Fiona tells us that Taci didn't put a foot wrong. Taci is Galero's first derivative out of our paint mare WP Whatabusybody.

Elli finishes this campaign on a winning note. Competing in her very first Elementary test in a field of 10 open company horses, Elli won her test. The judges comment, "This is a very talented horse".

2009 4yr old Dressage of the Stars Qualifiers

BHM Black Elegancia has qualified for the 2009 4yr old Dressage of the Stars to be held in Victoria in March. Elli placed 11th against a large field of warmbloods at a qualifying event on Saturday 31 January held in Sydney and the 3rd (with only 1.2 points between 1st and 3rd) in the qualifier held in Canberra.

We are so proud of both Ellie and her rider and trainer, Rebecca Walche. Our aim with Elli was to qualify and we achieved this. Unfortunately Spain has now made the decision to withdraw the offer of sponsorship for PRE horses outside Spain therefore as we have achieved what we set out to do, Elli will now be retired after the Canberra Royal Open Dressage at the end of February and put straight into foal to Galero XIV before going to the well known European Warmblood stallion, Sandro Hit.

Monaro Equestrian Association Open Dressage Competition

BHM Black Elegancia is trained and ridden by Rebecca Walshe. Monaro EA Open Dressage Competition was the girl's first competition since Equine Influenza broke out. This was Ellie's first Preliminary test and Rebecca used this event as a 'training day' as a lead up to Bathurst Royal Show in March. Elli scored in the mid 60% and was just outside the placings in a field of 30plus horse. Both girls performed wonderfully and the feed back was overwhelming. It seems that Elli is building up quite a fan club and is certainly a great ambassador for the PRE horse.
