BHM Black Porscha (Imp Spain)
Sire: Carlo-Seni
Dam: Kenia-FC
Born: 27 February 2006
“Apto” – Approved for Breeding
This stunning filly is the 2nd female to be imported into Australia from Spain in over 30 years - her mother Kenia-FC being the first! We are so excited and happy with this filly. Her conformation is fantastic and it looks like she will mature in excess of 16hh. Porscha's temperament is to die for and nothing seems to faze her. Only 3 days after 1st birthday Porscha was shown at the 2007 AHAA Australian National Show under the Spanish judge SR. Juan Carnero where she won 1st Led Spanish Filly under 2yrs old. She took the travel, preparation and show just like a veteran. Porscha is an absolute treasure and we look forward to her show and ridden career. Porscha's sire, Carlo-Seni, is a Qualified stallion from the famous Yeguadas Senillosa, Spain.
Kenia-FC (Imp Spain)
Sire: Doncel VII
Dam: Jacena
“Apto” – Approved for Breeding
Kenia-FC, a grey PRE mare approved for breeding, arrived in Australia in August 2005. She is sired by the sensational black PRE stallion Doncel VII out of the proven producer of excellent conformated progeny, Jacena. She is a heterozygous grey who carries the black gene. Kenia-FC was purchased because of her excellent movement, fabulous length of rein and neck set, complimenting Galero XIV (Imp). Once again we thank Miriam Frenk for her help in locating Kenia-FC for us and arranging the importation.
An added bonus was that Kenia-FC was covered by the magnificent black ‘Calificado’ PRE dressage stallion, Carli Seni prior to leaving Spain. Carli Seni was 2nd in the Functionality Test and 11th overall in the senior stallion class of the 2004 SICAB - Spain's premier show. On 27 February 2006, Kenia-FC gave birth to the lovely black/grey P.R.E filly, BHM Black Porscha.

Elli at 16hh, jet black with three white socks, is just simply stunning. Her pedigree combines the bloodlines of Lusillo (Imp) and Hortelano (Imp), a cross that is well know for producing exceptional dressage horses. Elli's show and dressage career to date has been outstanding. In 2009 Elli qualified for the 2009 4yr old Dressage of the Stars held in Victoria making her the first Spanish horse in Australia to qualify for this young horse event. Her results in open company demonstrate the quality of this mare and reflect the type of horse BHM aims to breed. See Show Results for all of Elli's competition history. Already there is a demand for her foals however her rider and trainer, Rebecca Walshe, is not ready to let Elli retire. Elli is a true ambassador for the breed and Black Horse Manor.

Warmblood Mares
We are intending to produce this cross more frequently as we expend our efforts to produce international quality dressage horses with Spanish blood. The Spanish blood provides the elevation, collection, trainability and temperament, and the Warmblood contributes the 'lift', extensions and height. This is one area of our breeding program to keep an eye on as we introduce European bloodlines such as Sandro Hit.
Grisabella
Sire: Granus II
Dam: Freya
16.3hh black registered warmblood mare
Bella is a Dutch warmblood mare of impeccable breeding. Her previous foals by warmbloods are fabulous and she has a son standing at stud in Victoria. Her sensational movement and wonderful temperament ensured her a place in the BHM broodmare band and we wait eagerly for her 2009 Galero foal.
Graf Destiny
Registered Hanoverian
Sire: Graf Landau (Han)
Dam: Windstille (Han)
Born: 2/12/1995
Black, 15.3hh
Eve was purchased due to her exceptional movement, conformation and bloodlines. She will be purpose bred to Galero XIV (Imp) to produce exceptional dressage prospects. As a youngster Eve was a very talented dressage competitor and went on to produce some fabulous warmblood foals. We wish to thank Gemma Parker for allowing us to purchase Eve.
As Eve was purchased from Victoria during the NSW Influenza lockdown, she was sent to Goulburn Valley Equine Centre, Shepparton Victoria for insemination with Galero XIV (Imp)'s frozen semen. On 6 October 2008, Eve gave us our first Galero XIV (Imp) frozen semen baby – a beautiful jet black filly that we named BHM Black Velvet. “Velvet” is exactly what we hoped for and has reinforced what an excellent choice we made by purchasing Eve.

Dam: Marlette
Studbook TB with Double Cream lines
Born: 1/10/2001, 16.1hh
This mare is owned by Natalie Blundell however her foals are owned in partnership with Black Horse Manor. ‘Ari’ was competed once by Natalie, for a 2nd and 4th at Young Dressage Assoc. in 2006. Unfortunately an untimely injury put an early end to Ari’s very promising dressage and eventing career. In September 2008 Ari produced us her first Galero XIV (Imp) foal - a stunning black colt with a white blaze and two white socks who we have named him BHM Black Magic. Ari has been returned to Galero XIV (Imp) for a September 2009 foal and we are keeping our fingers crossed for a filly.
Thoroughbred Mares
The Thoroughbred cross is the most common breed used by Australian Spanish breeders to produce derivatives, as it generally results in a fabulous versatile cross that is very marketable. As a rule we only use the best quality black TB mares from proven performance, including racing, backgrounds. Black is a very uncommon colour in TB mares and good ones are even rarer. Occasionally we will buy an exceptional quality chestnut mare that is not black, but has the black colour genetics behind her.
Smooth Kiss
Sire: Alquoz (USA) 1985
Dam: Light Caress (AUS) 1978
Black 16hh Studbook Thoroughbred
Born: 1993
Smooth Kiss is a well-bred mare who won several races before she was retired. Her Smooth Kiss is a well-bred mare who won several races before she was retired. Her nature cannot be faulted and she has the most beautiful rhythmic movement with a long flowing stride. Her previous foals have been stunners. Smooth Kiss was purpose bred to Galero XIV (Imp) to produce a competitive dressage or eventing prospect with the resulting foal, BHM Black Legend a super result.
Unfortunately due to the EI lockdown, Smooth Kiss was unable to be returned to Galero XIV (Imp) for a 2008 foal.
Odyssey
Sire: Kingston Seattle (Seattle Slew)
Dam: Great Deep (Marscay)
16.3hh black
Oddy was the find of the century - she is literally one of those gems people dream to find. She is bred in the purple and is a racing breeders dream. As a 2yr old she won her first barrier trail and then was sent out for a spell. Due to family circumstances Oddy never returned to racing and spent her years on a property at the back of Cooma, NSW. BHM has been fortunate to acquire Oddy for a season and we are confident this foal will be a ripper. Negotiations are continuing to secure the purchase of this mare but at this stage we are grateful for the opportunity to breed a foal.
Rayanui
Stud Book Thoroughbred
Sire: Bureaucracy (NZ)
Dam: Papanui
Born: 9.10.2000
17hh black
This gentle giant is leased in partnership with Natalie Blundell. Natalie broke 'Ray' in and was so impressed with her movement and temperament that Natalie asked Ray's owner if she could use her as a broodmare when she had finished racing. Ray’s pedigree speaks for itself and we are very fortunate that Ray’s owner has given us the opportunity to breed some foals by Galero XIV (Imp).
Quarter Horse Mares
We have had great success with crossing Galero XIV (Imp) over good quality QH and QH cross mares. Galero XIV (Imp)'s confirmation lends itself beautifully to the QH. When we look for QH mares we still look for the 'perfect' conformation however we particularly select mares with excellent hindquarters, good bone and height. We are very careful to choose mares that do not 'run' down hill. Although this cross has its own breed registry in America called "Azteca', it is not a recognised 'stand a lone' breed in Australia. However, Australian bred Aztecas are eligible for American registration.
Other Breed Mares
A stud is only as good as its mares and therefore I will not disregard a good mare just because she is not registered or a recognised breed. Occasionally I will see a mare that catches my eye for one reason or another and feel that she will produce an excellent foal by Galero.
In the case of the paint and pinto mares, I love a well marked and put together broken coloured horse, and believe a coloured Galero baby will be just awesome. It is not as easy as it sounds to breed a broken colour from a solid sire, as most coloured mares are not homozygous. This means that 50% of foals will be solid. As a result the mare must be of absolute top quality so as to make a solid foal still marketable.
